Rapp Bomek fire doors are tested according to all applicable specifications and are type-approved by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), American Bureau of Shipping, Lloyd's Register of Shipping and the US Coast Guard for use on fixed and floating platforms. The doors are manufactured under strict QA system in compliance with ISO 9001, and those delivered to platforms in the North Sea continue to perform well after more than 25 years in a harsh saline environment.
Blast Rating & Explosion Proof
In some areas where gas treatment takes place, there will be explosion risks. If any explosion occurs the fire cell around the area must withstand the explosion and ensuing fire. To ensure these properties on the doors, they have been physically tested for explosion and then fire tested.
These requirements have to be documented. Theoretical calculations for explosion properties can be accepted but the first test properties can only be defined by physical testing.

Gas Tightness
Fire doors leak tested to NBI test procedure.
Leak rates Hinged doors are down to 0,1m3/m2.h at 50Pa positive or negative pressure.
Leak rates Sliding doors are down to 0 m3/m2.h at 50Pa positive or negative pressure.
Keep gas leakage in drilling/production area
out of living quarters and electrical rooms.
Opening Forces
Max opening forces for doors in frequent use:
Hinged door - 65N / Sliding door - 50N
All other doors:
Hinged door - 130N / Sliding door - 105N
Maximum acceptable opening force in accidental
situation shall never exceed 250N
Doors in escape route on floating installations to be
selfclosing at a static heel of 3,5 degrees.(Solas)
Sound Reduction
Fire doors tested according to ISO 140/3
Single hinged doors meets sound claim
Rw = from 35dB to 51dB
Single sliding doors meets sound claim
Rw = from 23dB to 45dB
Requirements for Doors
Water Tightness
Combination doors - Fire Rated and Watertight.
Tested and approved by DNV up to 8,5m w.c from hinge
side and 5,0 m w.c from the opposite hinge side.
Saves space - one combined door instead of two doors
and airlock.
Used on FPSO, FPU, FSO.
Weather Tightness
Combination door - Fire Rated and Weathertight.
Weathertight against green sea - spray test.
Weathertight doors on FPSO, FSO to have the same strength as the
bulkhead.
Approved by DNV, LLOYDS & ABS.
Saves space - one combined door instead of two doors and airlock
Used on FPSO, FPU, FSO
